The grill
Ćevapi are rolled by hand, pljeskavica is pressed to order, and both go straight onto charcoal. It is the Bosnian way of grilling, and it is the reason people drive across town for it.
A family-run Mediterranean and Bosnian kitchen on Overland Ave since 2004. Pita baked in-house every morning, ćevapi rolled by hand, coffee brewed one cup at a time.
“Pljeskavica is among the best options in the great hamburger city of Los Angeles.”
Jonathan GoldPulitzer Prize-winning restaurant critic, Los Angeles Times
Seven write-ups in the LA Times, LA Weekly and LA Taco over twenty years, for a thirty-seat room on a residential corner.
There is no freezer shortcut in this kitchen. That is the whole business model, and it has worked for twenty years.

Pita and burek come out of our own oven each day. Nothing arrives frozen, and nothing sits waiting. It is the difference you taste first.

Salads are chopped and dressed once your order is in. Coffee is brewed a cup at a time. Please do not mind the short wait, it is the whole point.

Ten small beef kebabs, or one wide patty, charcoal-grilled and folded into pita with raw onion, kajmak and ajvar. It is the dish Bosnians judge a restaurant by, and it is the dish that put us in the LA Times.
Pick one pita, burek, sandwich or ćevapi, then one soup or salad. Half portions, served 12–2 PM, weekends excluded.

Aroma Café opened in April 2004 as a family business, and it has stayed one. We bring Bosnian and wider Mediterranean cooking to West LA using seasonal ingredients and the kind of attention you would give food at home.
The room is small, the pita oven runs all morning, and the grill is charcoal. People find us by accident and then bring their parents.

We are open every day of the year, 11 AM to 10 PM. Walk in, or call ahead for a bigger group and we will have the table ready.
